Description
Detailed Description N49255 begin life as a trainer in Washington State before conversion to a crop duster in 1949. It served >30 years in the dry west before modernization in the 1980s. The current owner converted N49255 to a custom standard category/aerobatic 450 Stearman. Restoration and conversion included wingtip bows, ailerons, fuselage teardown, new instrument panels, firewall, bird cage, tail strut, tail wheel, Redline brakes, fiberglass wheel fairings, turtle deck and headrest. A freshly overhauled P & W 14-B R-985 (Tulsa) was installed on a new Serv-Aero mount swinging an overhauled 108” Hamilton Standard 2D30 prop. N49255 was converted to a 24V system, equipped with Westberg EGT/CHT, King KY 196 Com, KT76 transponder, Whelen strobes, control-lock system, fire extinguisher and banner tow. N49255 underwent an extensive annual in 2025/2026 that included prop overhaul, new oil lines, brake parts, tail wheel and ELT. Airframe: Less than 100 hrs. after 1998 restoration and conversion. Extensive annual in 2025/2026 included prop overhaul, new tail wheel, new oil/fuel lines and brake line parts.

Engine: Pratt & Whitney R985 14B on a Serv-Aero 2033 mount with Serv-Aero control cables on a new stainless-steel firewall and with a BT13 cowl. Prop: Hamilton Standard 2D30; Blades 610A-12 (overhauled in 2025)
