The sealant has a service temperature range of -65ºF (-54ºC) to 250ºF (121ºC) and can withstand brief exposure to temperatures up to 275ºF (135ºC). The sealant forms a physical barrier against the common causes of corrosion and works best on aluminum alloys or between dissimilar metals. Once cured, the sealant maintains its elastomeric properties, which help it withstand the vibrational forces of flight. PPG Aerospace® 870 A-2 Corrosion Inhibitive Sealant is strong and is formulated to withstand limited exposure to jet fuel and aviation gas. The two-part manganese dioxide-cured polysulfide compound is suitable for application by brush and can be applied in thicknesses up to 25 mils.
