Description
Classic Commander Character. Modern Capability. Seriously Comfortable. There are airplanes you fly because they're practical — and then there are airplanes you genuinely enjoy flying... N5804N is the latter. This 1978 Rockwell International Commander 114 combines the substantial, comfortable feel of a classic Commander with a modern avionics suite, beautifully refreshed cosmetics, and the performance to make it a serious cross-country machine. Those who have flown these planes understand why they are known as big comfy couches and those who have not will quickly understand why they are so sought after as they take to the skies in the most spacious option in the 4-place single-engine retractable gear market. Powered by a 260-horsepower Lycoming IO-540-T4B5D turning a McCauley three-blade constant-speed propeller, N5804N cruises at 150+ knots while burning approximately 14 GPH in normal cruise. With 68 gallons of usable fuel, that translates into a published normal cruise range of approximately 650 nautical miles, giving this Commander the legs to make meaningful cross-country travel practical... and it does it in style! At the heart of N5804N is a Lycoming IO-540-T4B5D producing 260 horsepower, paired with a McCauley three-blade constant-speed propeller. The combination gives the Commander the kind of performance that makes it much more than a comfortable cruiser. With its substantial useful load and efficient cruise performance, N5804N makes an excellent platform for everything from regional trips to serious cross-country travel. Perhaps the most compelling feature of N5804N is what you'll find when you step into the cockpit. The panel has been thoughtfully upgraded around a Garmin G3X 10.7-inch display, giving the pilot a modern primary flight display and a clean interface for the aircraft's extensive avionics suite, which includes the state-of-the-art Garmin GTN 650xi. The aircraft also features an S-TEC 60-2 autopilot, fully integrated with the Garmin flight deck and supported by an S-TEC ST-360 altitude preselect/hold/alerter and S-TEC yaw damper. This combination can make a tremendous difference in workload and comfort on longer IFR flights and the result is a cockpit that offers modern situational awareness and connectivity while maintaining excellent redundancy. So much has gone into the evolution of this aircraft. From mechanical refurbishments to the bones of the plane (tanks resealed, new elevator spar hardware, upgraded circuit breakers, etc.) to the cosmetics, avionics, and beyond... you simply must review the full specs list and logbooks to truly appreciate what a special example this Commander 114 truly is. The Commander 114 has always been a little different. It's bigger, more substantial, and more comfortable than the typical four-seat singles of its era. N5804N takes those inherent qualities and combines them with modern Garmin avionics, a serious integrated autopilot, a beautifully refreshed cabin, contemporary paint, and strong cross-country performance. You get excellent cross-country performance, combine it with a quiet, comfortable cabin — all wrapped into an airplane that looks as good as it flies. N5804N isn't trying to be a new airplane. It's something arguably more interesting: A classic airplane that has been thoughtfully brought into the modern era. Call us today!
