Under the cowling sits the fuel-injected Lycoming CC363i, not the CC340 you might have been expecting. The bigger surprise lies out at the wingtips, where N150CC departs from the standard FX formula with a factory-installed Carbon Cub Super Sport wing. Together, they form the foundation for one very interesting Carbon Cub, combining FX muscle with the light, playful handling that made the Super Sport so popular. Around here, we call it the FX-1.5, though with an FX-3 engine under the cowling, it might be more accurate to call it the FX-2.5. Either way, sometimes the mad scientist really does get it right. For the STOL faithful, this FX-1.5 is equipped with extended fuel tanks holding 44 gallons, 29-inch Alaskan Bushwheels, a 3200 Baby Bushwheel tailwheel, HD brakes, Acme Black Ops suspension, and FX-3 3x3 covered landing gear. It's a no-nonsense setup for pilots who prefer their adventures beyond the pavement. The backcountry vibe doesn't come at the expense of technology. A Garmin G3X Touch anchors the panel, supported by Garmin’s GTX 345R ADS-B In/Out transponder, dual-axis autopilot with level button, XM weather/radio, and G5 backup display. Last but certainly not least is the presentation and comfort.
