Accident & incident history

2007-06-19 Accident · Southern Pines, NC Damage: Substantial NTSB · CHI07LA205
Reported aircraft: Harpster Hawk Aero Tandem
Probable cause: The loss of engine power during cruise due to the piston seizure for undetermined reasons and the unsuitable terrain the pilot encountered during the forced landing. A factor was the rising terrain of the mound that the airplane impacted.
1997-07-05 Accident · Hampton, NH Damage: Substantial Minor injury NTSB · IAD97LA096
Reported aircraft: Piper PA-23-160 — a different aircraft that carried the N4022P registration before this airframe.
Probable cause: The pilot's poor judgement for intentionally shutting down an engine to perform a practice single engine landing, which led to a single engine go-around due to conflicting traffic.
