Accident & incident history

2023-09-29 Accident · Cullman, AL Damage: Substantial Fatal injury NTSB · ERA23FA382
Reported aircraft: Smith William S SMITH Cozy Mark IV
Probable cause: The pilot s exceedance of the airplane s critical angle of attack while maneuvering at low altitude, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and subsequent loss of control. Contributing to the accident was the pilot/owner s improper installation of engine mount hardware during recent maintenance, which resulted in the partial separation of the engine and likely degraded controllability of the airplane.
1995-12-01 Accident · Newton, KS Damage: Substantial Minor injury NTSB · CHI96LA044
Reported aircraft: Herring Sport Fan — a different aircraft that carried the N95SF registration before this airframe.
Probable cause: a loss of engine power for undetermined reasons. A factor related to the accident was the presence of traffic requiring the pilot to perform an evasive maneuver.
