Accident & incident history

1998-12-17 Accident · Traverse City, MI Damage: Substantial NTSB · CHI99LA055
Reported aircraft: Aerospatiale ATR-42-300 — a different aircraft that carried the N47AE registration before this airframe.
Probable cause: The crew's failure to execute a missed approach and the flying pilot's (captain) failure to maintain directional control upon touchdown with a seven degree left bank and a right quartering tailwind. Factor's were the snow covered runway/landing area and the night conditions.
1996-11-20 Incident · Covington, KY Damage: Minor NTSB · CHI97IA031
Reported aircraft: ATR 42 — a different aircraft that carried the N47AE registration before this airframe.
Probable cause: improper use of procedures by maintenance personnel at an overhaul facility during overhaul of the landing gear, allowing corrosion to occur on the barrel lugs of the landing gear, which subsequently led to fatigue cracking of the lugs and eventual collapse of the gear.
